FDA Warns Companies Selling Kratom Drug Products For Deceptive Advertising

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued warning letters to marketers and distributors of kratom products, Cali Botanicals and Kratom NC, for illegally selling unapproved, misbranded kratom-containing drug products. The FDA stated that the products contained unproven claims about their ability to treat or cure opioid addiction and withdrawal symptoms, treat pain, as well as other medical conditions like depression, anxiety and cancer. Separately, the FDA has warned about the risks of using these products that may be contaminated with high rates of salmonella and heavy metals.
