The Securities and Exchange Commission awarded a whistleblower more than $1 million for providing it with new information and substantial corroborating documentation of a securities law violation by an entity that impacted retail investors. The SEC has awarded more than $162 million to 47 whistleblowers since its program started a few years ago. The confidentiality of whistleblowers is protected under the law and the SEC does not disclose information that might directly or indirectly reveal a whistleblower’s identity.
